Akasaka Mochi
赤坂もち

While there are many traditional Japanese sweets across the country that bear resemblance to Akasaka Aono’s signature product, ‘Akasaka Mochi’, the origin of the style of wrapping “kinako” (soybean flour) and mochi in a ‘small cloth wrap’ is a unique technique that our shop pioneered, aimed at making it easier to eat them together. That is why it is referred to as the ‘original’.
This innovation was introduced by the third generation, and the cloth-wrapped soybean flour mochi has been evolving in line with the passage of time.
The elegant sweetness, smooth texture, and the savory aroma of soybean flour and walnuts remain the same, both now and in the past.
Please enjoy the taste of tradition, backed by collective generations of techniques and skills.

Unique Soybean Flour Mochi Style: We do not pour brown sugar syrup on the “kinako” soybean flour because the mochi itself contains walnuts and brown sugar. This is a unique style of Akasaka Aono, different from typical “kinako” mochi. Akasaka Aono’s soybean flour mochi, ‘Akasaka Mochi’, is made with the intent for the customers to enjoy the inherent ‘sweetness’ that comes naturally from the ingredients, without adding any unnecessary flavors, thus accentuating the original savory taste of the ingredients.
